African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS)
The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is a pioneering development research think tank on harnessing applications of science, technology, and innovation policies for sustainable development in Africa. ACTS is an intergovernmental organization founded by Calestous Juma in 1988 to pursue policy-oriented research toward strengthening the capacity of African countries and institutions to harness science and technology for sustainable development.
CJLF Partners with ACTS on the Calestous Juma Seminar Series, the CJ Hub, and various other projects.
Science Innovation Africa (SCINOV) - Kenya, Taiwan
Science Innovation Africa (SCINOV) has a mission to empower people in Africa and in Taiwan to serve the needs for development through education. We recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with them to further solidify our commitment to work together.
TAISA provided the first-ever training at the CJ Hub for 11 trainees in Scratch coding, and also donated 10 computers to local Port Victoria Secondary Schools. The CJ Hub hosted 12 volunteers from Taiwan in August of 2023.
Strathmore University - Kenya
Strathmore University is a leading not-for profit private university operating in Kenya, which aims at serving the Kenyan society to the best of its ability. Specialising in commerce and information technology, Strathmore holds a peerless reputation for quality in both academic and professional education and personal formation.
CJLF partners with Strathmore University by providing internship opportunities and participating in events. New joint initiatives are in development.
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga (JOOUST) - Kenya
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology is a public university in Bondo in Siaya County, Kenya. JOOUST is a centre of excellence in training, research and community outreach services offering practical and market oriented courses. Together with JOOUST, CJLF is working on capacity building for fish farmers.
Hydro Victoria Farms - Kenya
Hydro Victoria Fish Hatchery Farm (HVFHF), is a private investment with a lens for Community Empowerment, aimed to fulfill its main agenda in Food Security in Africa. Together with Hydro Victoria, CJLF is working on capacity building for fish farmers. We are proud that Hydro Victoria founder Fred Juma is a member of our Bunyala Advisory Group.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a private university located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is on a mission to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century. CJLF was proud to host two interns from MIT in the summer of 2023.
