[PRESS RELEASE] CALESTOUS JUMA LEGACY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Calestous Juma Legacy Foundation (CJLF) is pleased to announce the appointment of its inaugural Executive Director, Angela P. Christiana. Angela has been a leader in nonprofits and advocacy for over 10 years and has served on the Advisory Council of the Foundation since 2019.

“Angela Christiana brings a wealth of experience, professionalism, and successful project engagement on the African continent,” said Board President Wesley Harris. “The CJLF Board is pleased that Angela has joined us as Executive Director. Angela’s energy and knowledge will enhance the achievement of CJLF Board goals.”

Angela Christiana will be the main public contact and spokesperson for the organization, and she will represent the Foundation in forums and business capacities. As the Foundation grows, Angela will oversee the process of organizational and program development.

“I appreciate the Board’s confidence in me, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead an organization that advances community-led innovation in Kenya,” said Christiana. “Professor Calestous Juma had a profound and positive impact on the course of my career, and I am incredibly honored to serve in this role to further his legacy in Africa.”

The Calestous Juma Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2019 to advance economic transformation and sustainable development in Kenya, and ultimately in Africa more broadly, through the use of science and technological innovation. The Foundation’s primary goal is to help local communities develop and implement innovative solutions to health, educational, food security, environmental, and employment challenges identified by local experts and community members. It will focus its work initially in and around Calestous Juma’s hometown, Port Victoria, a small town in rural Western Kenya.
